Rachel Ward, MA, FITI, is a literary translator from French and German.

She specialises in translating books for children and young adults, as well as crime fiction and other contemporary literature. Her non-fiction interests include history, politics, art, journalism and travel. She particular enjoys working on books with wordplay and a touch of humour.

Rachel’s translation of Hotel Cartagena by Simone Buchholz (Orenda Books) won the 2022 CWA Crime Fiction in Translation Dagger award.

Rachel  completed the Stephen Spender Trust Translators in Schools programme and can offer translation workshops for primary or secondary school pupils, with or without prior knowledge of the language.
